DDPM and MICT to Co-Host Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience Asia

The Department of Disaster Prevention & Mitigation (under the Ministry of Interior) and Ministry of Information & Communication Technology will co-host Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience Asia in Bangkok, Thailand on 24th-25th June 2015.

The DDPM was established in 2002 as an agency under Ministry of Interior to handle disaster management responsibilities. As disaster situations in Thailand got worse due to population increase, urbanization and impact of climate change, the establishment of DDPM is to have a better and more effective mechanism to prevent disaster damage and loss and to mitigate calamity due to man-made and natural disasters.

The Ministry of Information & Communication Technology has the vision to become the ASEAN’s leader for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) development, and to be the central organization in ICT developing and integrating thoroughly Thailand with efficiency.
The MICT is supported by the ETDA (Electronic Transactions Development Agency (Public Organization)), the agency which serves as the core agency to develop, promote and support electronic transactions so that they would be reliable and whose key function is to conduct research and support the operation of the Electronic Transactions Commission and other related agencies or for the public.

Critical Infrastructure Protection & Resilience Asia is also supported by the Ministry of Transport for Thailand.

Critical Infrastructure Protection and Resilience Asia will bring together leading stakeholders from industry, operators, agencies and governments to collaborate on securing Asia. The conference will look at developing existing national or international legal and technical frameworks, integrating good risk management, strategic planning and implementation.
