Rik Verhorst has built his career and vast experience in the international defense market for land based systems and tactical communications through employments amongst others at Thales (France), Harris Corp. (USA) and TNO (Netherlands)

His records show amongst others the launch and roll-out of new product and performance categories, strategic market capture, and comprehensive system solutions for defense operations inclusive efficient life-cycle enhancement, test and certification services. All of his projects are closely linked with the deployment and improvement of various types of military force protection solutions (personal armor, weapon systems & ammunition, IED / Mine Blast and critical infrastructure protection). Next to his engagement in major military vehicle projects in the Middle East (e.g. Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE) he worked in Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Finland, India, Malaysia, Poland, Rumania, Turkey, Venezuela, Singapore and Thailand.

Rik joined the Dutch research, development & technology organization for applied sciences –TNO, The Netherlands – to launch and manage a new growth initiative for innovative offerings for Safety & Security Services. His current export focus is on expanding TNO’s Laboratory for Ballistic Research through the establishment of Middle East and Far East localized footprints additional to Specialized Test Laboratories and Blast Proofing Grounds. TNO’s Test and Certification as well as TNO’s advisory improving System Design, Ballistics & IED / Mine blast protection,  Ammunition & Weapons as well as personal, asset and platform survivability are serving both the national MODs as well as an industrial array of multinational partners.

Rik Verhorst signed of a TNO License Agreement enabling the first international offering for a highly advanced, lightest weight, utilizing strongest fiber, RPG protective add-on system for armored vehicles and infrastructure protection. Rik is co-author for a patent – pending registration- for an ELectric Responsive Armor (TNO’s ELRA patent).
